Latest InspiringBusiness 2019 seminar a resounding success

We were delighted to welcome over 80 businesses to our latest InspiringBusiness2019 seminar, to hear from two very different, but equally inspirational, speakers about their ups and downs en route to career success.

This time, our captivated audience heard from fitness and nutritional supplement entrepreneur Mark Bowering and Beverley Building Society Chief Executive Karl Elliott.

Mark described how following his beliefs and personal passion for building physical fitness led to him establishing the PhD Nutrition fitness supplement brand made him a millionaire. Still running his Hull-based Monster Supplements supply company having sold PhD to Boots, he can now concentrate on the thing he loves most – his own, cutting-edge gym, Peak Health & Fitness, where he and business partner Paul Crouch focus on helping people to achieve their physical potential and lead better, healthier lives. You can read more about Mark’s journey in our blog about what he had to say.

Meanwhile, Karl described how falling into a marketing job at a northern building society, largely by chance, shaped his whole career.  Challenging experiences in both life and work gave him the personal and leadership skills that have made him what he is today, and you can read more about these in our blog.

InspiringBusiness2019 is our campaign, as a specialist business law firm, to support SMEs with potential across the Yorkshire & Humber region. It features inspirational, personal stories like Mark’s and Karl’s, as well as an annual competition which, this year, is offering a prize fund of business support worth over £20,000.

The next event will be taking place on 11 September at the Hallmark Hotel in North Ferriby, from 10am until 1pm. Look out for booking details or email us at to register your early interest.

Our Managing Director, Nick Miller, said: “We started our InspiringBusiness campaign two-and-a-half years ago as our way of giving back by unearthing, celebrating and supporting unsung business talent in the Yorkshire & Humber region and we’re delighted at how it has built momentum over that time.

“Through the campaign, we’ve been able to offer tangible support including legal advice, website building, funding support, IT help, accountancy guidance and success coaching to some of the best business talent in the area, including our 2018 competition winner BIMSense, which offers cutting edge virtual building modelling solutions.

“We’re also focusing on the topic of wellbeing, and offering insights designed to help hard-pressed business owners to find that elusive work/life balance.

“The latest seminar was our best yet, and you could really feel the energy in the room as Mark and Karl described their poignant stories.”

Could you be this year’s winner? Or do you know of a business you believe should be in with a shot? you can enter here or simply email or post your entry to us by the deadline of 31 December 2019.
