Underlining our commitment to encouraging local talent, by investing in five new roles
Bringing out the best in local people’ is central to James Legal Solicitors’ ethos.
We’re giving numerous members of our team, based at our Hull and Beverley offices, their chance to shine, with a number of new appointments and promotions.
We have promoted homegrown solicitor Simon Young to our group of company directors, among a number of other positive changes.
Our MD and Solicitor Nick Miller said: “Traditionally in legal firms, it can take a long, long time for talented individuals like Simon to progress their careers. At James Legal, our ethos is all about taking someone who shows real drive and capability, and challenging them to be the best they can be.
“Simon’s a great example of that approach in action. In his four years with us, he has shown that he has the commitment, zest for learning and commercial understanding to go the extra mile for our clients, which are the essential ingredients we look for in our leadership team.
“Simon is very well respected by our clients and I’m very proud of what he has achieved for us so far, and confident he’ll bring even greater successes going forward.”
Simon, who embarked on his career in law 10 years ago and gained his solicitor status with the firm’s help, is relishing the opportunity to play an active role in helping to set our future direction. He is also leading James Legal’s expansion into Beverley, where he lives, after we opened a second office there last December.
He said: “I feel immensely proud that Nick has decided to make me a director of James Legal at this point in my career.
“I’m passionate about everything the firm stands for – including fee transparency; a down-to-earth, approachable way of dealing with our clients and, above all, a commitment to doing what’s in their best interests, over and above commercial interest.
“Having this opportunity to play an even more active role in taking the business forward is a fantastic honour for me.”
Simon’s promotion follows our announcement, last week, that solicitor Byron Swarbrick has joined us from Andrew Jackson Solicitors, further boosting our commercial law team.
Meanwhile, Yasmin Kemp, from east Hull, has become our latest new apprentice, allowing former apprentice Tom Owens to progress to a new position as legal assistant in the property department after joining just over a year ago. Having completed a year of university, Yasmin decided she was eager to join the world of work and jumped at the opportunity presented by James Legal.
Meanwhile, Beth Lamplough, who has been looking after our reception, is progressing too, and expanding her skills by training to be a cashier. Kerry Shakesby has joined us as our new receptionist.
These new appointments are part of our plans to widen our reach across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, and expand our team to provide an ever-better and broader range of services to our clients, which are predominantly businesses.
