Nurturing homegrown talent – Simon comes of age

03-05-2017

We’re delighted to announce that our talented commercial litigation lawyer Simon Young has qualified as a Solicitor.

He is the first member of the team to join James Legal as a trainee and become ‘fully fledged’ in their career with the support of the firm, and we’re immensely proud of his achievement.

Simon joined James Legal in March 2014 and recently completed his period of recognised training in April of this year. Simon specialises in litigation for us, from commercial disputes to professional negligence, commercial property litigation, breach of contract claims, debt matters as well as various forms of settlement negotiations that span across a wide variety of differnt matters.

James Legal MD Nick Miller said: “Simon is a shining example of our commitment to offering talented young people from our city of Hull and wider region, a chance to build a career in law.

“He’s worked incredibly hard to gain his solicitor status, and is very committed to our clients, who have tremendous respect for him.

“We have a number of other junior lawyers within our James Legal team, including Ashley who has just joined our conveyancing department, and I hope Simon’s achievement will be an inspiration to them, too.”

Simon added: “To complete this stage of my professional development is a great feeling. I have Nick Miller to thank for providing me with a platform to do this, as well as previous mentors who have helped me significantly along the way.

I will always strive to push myself as far as I can, both in terms of my overall knowledge and in terms of the service I provide my clients with. I have always believed that it is imperative that you strive to personally evolve, improve and most importantly, to move forwards.”

A client kindly provided the following comments on Simon:

‘James Legal were recommended to me by my previous solicitor who was retiring, as a result of this I was introduced to Simon approximately two years ago.

We had an initial meeting and we seemed to strike up a good rapport with each other. As with all business relationships, I believe any success that is achieved is down to the dynamic established between the individuals. Simon and I developed a good understanding, and more importantly the trust of each other, and that helped the relationship. Simon has handled all of our legal queries since we met, in particular, a difficult commercial takeover/purchase of one of my businesses.

Everything is always set out clearly by Simon, with different options, recommendations, and details of all potential costs, so there is never a surprise. I have found his help invaluable and his support has allowed me to concentrate on growing my business while he deals with any distractions. As we grow and whenever we need legal advice, Simon will always be my first point of call.

‘I have for many years used Simon Young of James Legal in connection to my property management business and I have always been very impressed with the way Simon deals with our instructions promptly and always communicates with us on a regular basis.

My staff have always praised Simon on how easy they find dealing with him and how he always delivers on his promises, his approach is exactly what I would expect from a professional lawyer and offering a swift and prompt service is key to his success.

James Legal are in my opinion one of the citys top law firms and we always recommend them to our clients with the reassurance they will deliver every time.
